the florals

Way back when I first treated myself to an iPad, I fell in love with Procreate. I’d managed to finally save up for one as I was on my PGCE year after university, and had secured a grant for teaching (thank u Physics). I’d just moved to Brighton in this insane cross-country gamble to do something fulfilling with my life, but not really knowing what it was that I wanted to do.

The people around me were practically glowing with individuality and confidence. That’s one big thing I miss about Brighton, actually. I loved the confidence in the air - that thing that only happens when you truly support one another and allow each other to grow however they want. The idea that you could wear what’s comfortable and also cool. Brighton was genuine. And so I wanted to grow into me.

After a break-up, a move-out, and a complete breakdown, I got my first tattoo. Starting fresh. Growing into me.

In the passing months, I covered my arms in @sukilune’s incredible art. They grow with me, I grew with them.

Inspired, and (with life), I started doodling on my iPad - sketches of florals. I loved them. Could sit for hours making flow-y, natural flowers come to life on my digital page. A collection grew, and I really didn’t have a place for it to be seen. So, for the first time, here they all are.

P.S my lovely friend, and stealer of my heart, got a sunflower of mine tattooed on her forearm and wears it daily. Thank you for you endless support.
